Who am I?

About Valerie

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?

I really enjoyed seeing the results of the hard work I put in throughout my studies. Although my learning experience was challenging at times, it helped me to develop both personally and professionally and I was able to identify areas I am interested in.

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

No matter how small, I appreciate the role I play in supporting students on their journey throughout their studies. It’s rewarding to see how a simple word of encouragement, offering a listening ear or timely advice/support is often all a student needs to help them get back on track. I appreciate the feedback I get from students too and I often feel just as encouraged after a one-to-one session with a student. It makes me so happy to see students progress and reach their potential after accessing the right support!

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

A poem I wrote when I was 9 years old is published in a book.
