Hi, I鈥檓 Josh. I am the Student Adviser for Computer Science and I听am here for you as a key point of contact during the first year of your undergraduate studies.听I am available to discuss any wellbeing, support, and student experience matters.听

Events
Working within Student Support and Wellbeing听Services, we听will be hosting a range of events and activities听during term time听to support your Social bonding, Skills for life, and Wellbeing at university. Explore the workshops and activities you can join听throughout the academic year听listed below, then click the 'Book a space on an event' button to reserve your place.

Your Guide to Thrive
Come along and test your knowledge at the Engineering Quiz Night. We will have different rounds covering popular culture, history and general knowledge.
You can come already in a team听(just book up to 5 tickets to come as a full team), or听you come as an individual or smaller group听and we will help you get together to make a team.

Join us for a stretching workshop - we will take you through a 10 minute mini stretching routine where you will learn how to stretch effectively whilst sat at your desk. You'll also learn听more about the benefits of adding movement into your study sessions.
After this, we'll have a social with some free snacks!

Join us for a short workshop where you鈥檒l learn essential plant care tips, including watering, lighting, soil, and pest control, to keep your plants thriving. Connect with fellow plant enthusiasts and take home your very own plant to start building a green oasis in听your bedroom!
Each session will be 15 minutes long and you will receive a little mini plant for free! (Please note, you must show your Eventbrite ticket in order to take a free plant!)听

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?
My experience of higher education when I was a student was stressful but also exciting. It was a lot of work but a fantastic experience being able to meet new people and try new things. I enjoyed higher education because it was a chance to not just study a subject but really engage with it.听
What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?
What I like most about my work as a Student Adviser is working with students. University is a challenging time and everyone needs support. It is rewarding to be able to provide support for students who are struggling at that moment and then see them succeed.
What would it surprise people to know about you?
I think people are surprised to learn that I lived and worked in Japan for 6 years. I think experiencing other cultures is one of the most rewarding experiences.听
