About Alison

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?ÌýÌý

I loved my time at Durham University – like Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, it is steeped in history and I felt honoured to be a part of it.Ìý University allowed me to spread my wings, feel independent and expand my horizons –Ìýboth academically butÌýalso through getting to know all kinds ofÌýdifferentÌýpeople and viewpoints.ÌýÌý Later in my career, I completed a Counselling Diploma at a local college – this was another great experience, as I studied alongside fellow mature students, who all had great lived experiences that enhanced the counselling studying we were doing.Ìý I love to learn and will always be looking for opportunities to expand my horizons. We are never done learning!Ìý

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

It's an honour to support students as they make the transition from school to University, to watch them grow, understand and value themselves. Ìý

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

I had aspirations of being a radio presenterÌýas a teenager andÌýhelped out at a local radio station in LiverpoolÌý

I was once a bouncer for TakeÌýThatÌý– which involved standing guard outside the school sick bay, whilst they got ready.Ìý
