What I do

Hi, I’m Katie. I am the Student Adviser for Chemical Engineering, Security and Crime ScienceÌý& BSc Science and Engineering for Social Change.ÌýIÌýam here for you as a key point of contact during the first year of your undergraduate studies.ÌýI am available to discuss any wellbeing, support, and student experience matters.Ìý

Working within Student Support and WellbeingÌýServices, weÌýwill be hosting a range of events and activitiesÌýduring term timeÌýto support your Social bonding, Skills for life, and Wellbeing at university. Your Guide to Thrive

Come along and test your knowledge at the Engineering Quiz Night. We will have different rounds covering popular culture, history and general knowledge.

You can come already in a teamÌý(just book up to 5 tickets to come as a full team), orÌýyou come as an individual or smaller groupÌýand we will help you get together to make a team.

Join us for a stretching workshop - we will take you through a 10 minute mini stretching routine where you will learn how to stretch effectively whilst sat at your desk. You'll also learnÌýmore about the benefits of adding movement into your study sessions.

After this, we'll have a social with some free snacks!

Join us for a short workshop where you’ll learn essential plant care tips, including watering, lighting, soil, and pest control, to keep your plants thriving. Connect with fellow plant enthusiasts and take home your very own plant to start building a green oasis inÌýyour bedroom!

Each session will be 15 minutes long and you will receive a little mini plant for free! (Please note, you must show your Eventbrite ticket in order to take a free plant!)Ìý

Who am I?

About Katie

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?Ìý

I studied Japanese and ManagementÌýat university in London, with a year abroad. It was an amazing experience, learning a different language and culture alongside developing practical skills in Business. At times, the workload could be quite intense and a little overwhelming, but it helped me learn how to prioritise and meet deadlines, which has been an invaluable skill throughout my career.ÌýÌý

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

The aspect I find most fulfilling is creating meaningful connections with students, getting to know them and helping them to make the most of their university experiences. Guiding students whilst they navigate university life and being able to support them to develop as individuals and overcome challenges is incredibly rewarding!
