The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÌýWelcome Ambassador Programme runs every year and provides current Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê students of all nationalities and levels of study, the chance to work with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff members and help run events and services related to the welcome and induction of new Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÌýstudents.

We consider the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊÌýWelcome Ambassador Programme one of our most important initiatives as it gives the opportunityÌýfor students and staff to work together for the betterment of the university using what we believe is a key component;Ìýpeer-to-peer support.

Now, because we want our Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Welcome Ambassadors to represent our student body as much as possible, we want as many of you to apply as possible. However, it's really important that you readÌýthe job description andÌýFAQ answers below about what you'd be doing and what eligibility requirements you need to meet. As much as you may want to work with us and vice versa, you need to be OK with the following.

Am I eligible to work on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Welcome Ambassador Programme?

You have to at least be in your 1st year of study at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê to apply. You cannot be a Welcome Ambassador for the 2024/2025 academic year if you aren't already studying at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê in the 2023/2024 academic year. This means students starting at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê in September 2024 cannot apply.

All home students should be eligible to work on the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Welcome Ambassador Programme by the fact that they are either British citizens orÌýtheir home country has an agreement which includes the right to work in the UK.

International students need to be a little more careful. If you are studying at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê on a Student Visa/Tier 4 Visa, then you should be eligible to workÌýon the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Welcome Ambassador Programme, however, it is your responsibility to ensure you don't exceed your weekly working limit as stated on your visa.

Please note that we can only hireÌýÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê students who will also be at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê for the entire 2024/2025 academic year.ÌýSo, if you are in your final year of study now, you will not be eligible.

Ultimately, everyone will need to pass their Right to Work checks conducted by Unitemps but it's worth being sure before you embark on the application process.
