Departmental Graduate Tutor

Philip Cunliffe

Associate Professor in International Relations

As graduate tutor at IRDR, I oversee our doctoral programme. I am a political scientist by training, with academic expertise focused on questions of sovereignty, international order, military intervention and liberal conflict management.

In addition to overseeing the programme as a whole and organising induction for incoming PhD students I am also responsible for putting together the annual PhD Forum and Spring Academy. Our doctoral students are an integral part of our research community at IRDR, and events such as these are part of how we showcase the extensive and invaluable research that we do as a department.
