USS Ballot and Action Update
26 January 2018
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê is one of 61 universities due to take strike action next month after negotiations to reach agreement on the future of the USS pensions scheme between UCU and Universities UK (UUK) failed on 23rd January when the Chair of the USS Board Sir Andrew Cubie used his casting vote to push Defined Contribution onto all members of USS.
Given the complex nature of the issues at stake, we have produced a leaflet to explain:
- why "the deficit" is a projection based on flawed methodology,
- why Defined Contributions are notoriously risky,
- how the pension cut will impact you, and
- what you can to save your pension.
Further guidance to members, including a Q&A section on our USS Pension campaign pages, will follow soon.
