Three leading tuberculosis research organisations, , and the , have issued a joint statement urging governments to increase funding of research and development of tuberculosis treatments.  The statement, issued to coincide with the , states that "Science is not holding us back, funding and political will to implement is." and refers to the estimated US$1billion+ annual funding needed to counter attack the global TB epidemic.
