The Chris Seymour Bursary

The Chris Seymour Bursary aims to provide one scholarship to enable a female UK domiciled student to pursue an undergraduate degree in Engineering at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates must:

  • be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status;
  • be from a disadvantaged background;
  • be a female student on an undergraduateÌýprogramme within the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

The first preference is for an award to be made to student within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Should this not be possible the award will be made to a female student on another undergraduate course within the Faculty that has historically had significant under-representation of female students within the cohort.


Value, benefits, and duration

The award providesÌý£18,750 per year for a three year undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress.ÌýThe awardÌýcan be applied to cover tuition fees orÌýmaintenance costs depending on the awardees' preference.

If a student on a four year undergraduate programmeÌýreceives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £14,062.50 for each of their four years of study.


Selection

The criterion for awarding the bursary is financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application.


How to apply

The Chris Seymour Bursary is one of the schemes that makeÌýup the Undergraduate Funding and Access Awards (UGFA).

Results

The UGFAsÌýwill be awarded by recommendation by a panel composed of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff. The successful candidates will be notified as soon as decisions are made by mid-September.Ìý
