Brown Family Bursary

The aim of the Brown Family Bursary is to enable and encourage academically excellent students in financial need to pursue their postgraduate studies at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.

Eligibility

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

  • be ordinarily resident in the UK;
  • be in financial need (as determined by the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Student Funding Office);
  • AND have submitted a completeÌýadmission application (including submission of references) forÌýa full-time Master's degree at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê in 2024/25 for one of the following programmes:
    • MSc Environment and Sustainable DevelopmentÌý
    • MSc Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policy and TransitionsÌý
    • MSc Climate ChangeÌý
    • MPA Sustainable Infrastructures and Public PolicyÌý
    • MPA Energy, Technology and Public PolicyÌý
    • MSc Environmental Systems EngineeringÌý
    • MSc Global Management of Natural ResourcesÌý
    • MSc Materials for Energy and EnvironmentÌý
    • MSc Biodiversity and Global ChangeÌý
    • MSc Ecology and Data ScienceÌý

Value, benefits, and duration

  • There is 1 (one) awardÌýavailable in 2024/25.
  • The value of the awardÌýis £15,000.
  • The award is tenable for one year only.
  • The Brown Family BursaryÌýmay be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries. The amount of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê award may be adjusted depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.
  • Award recipients are obliged to inform the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Master’s degree studies, before or subsequent to the Brown Family Bursary.
  • The bursaryÌýwill first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal instalments throughout the academic year towards maintenance.

Selection

The bursaryÌýis awarded on the basis of financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office.

Results

Successful candidates for 2024/25Ìýwill be notified in late July - early August 2024.
