Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's Sociology Network (USN)

Sociology has a significant presence and reach across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê through teaching, research and PhD supervision. ÌýThere are sociologists in every Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê faculty with expertise in a wide range of thematic and geographic specialisms. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has a substantial methodological community which uses sociological thinking to inform the use and development of approaches to research using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods.ÌýÌý

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Sociology Network (USN) is a creative space and intellectual home for sociological staff and doctoral students across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.ÌýÌýTaking a broad and inclusive definition of sociology, the network seeks to connect sociologists to share and generate synergies across the field, to celebrate the work of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê sociologists, and to ensure the discipline’s visibility within and beyond Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê to researchers, funders, prospective doctoral students and the public.Ìý In addition, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has strong links with the , and the .Ìý USNÌýis run by and for its members, and as such will evolve to suit their needs.

The network was relaunched in 2022 as a strand of activity within Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's Collaborative Social ScienceÌýDomain.Ìý It was originally established in 2009, Chaired by Professor (2009-13) and later by Professor (2013 -21)
