Celebrating Ramadan in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê community in 2024

From around 11 March until 9 April 2024, Muslims across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê will mark Ramadan, the holiest month of the Muslim calendar.

The month of Ramadan marks the revelation of the Book ofÌýQu’ran and is a time of reflection, with a particular focus on prayer, purification and charitable acts. During the month, Muslims around the world refrain from eating and drinking, including water, during daylight hours. This means that Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff and studentsÌýobserving the fast may need some flexibility during the period.Ìý

±«°ä³¢â€™s guidance on supporting Muslim staff during Ramadan has more information, including information and advice for managers. The Muslim Council of Britain has also published a useful , including advice around what is and what is not included in the fast, and who is exempt from fasting. There is also a comprehensive , including tips to maintain physical and mental health whilst fasting, tips for a more eco-friendly Ramadan and advice for employers and line managers.
