Open meeting to develop Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê activities in support of migrants and refugees
27 January 2016
We would like to inviteÌýall Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff and students to an open meeting to share ideas for activities we might develop to support refugees and others affected by conflict: Monday 29 February, 1-2 pm in Room 113, 26 Bedford Way One aim is to establish a working group of students and staff to develop and coordinateÌýa range of initiatives across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
WeÌýhope this will enable usÌýto build on recent action by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê staff and students.ÌýThisÌýincludes the Refuge in a Moving World research network, a recent motion by IOE's UCU branch in support of scholarships for refugees, and a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Student Union vote in support of action organised by STAR (Student Action for Refugees). In turn,ÌýÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has recently announcedÌýa new £50,000 donation to CARA, the Said Foundation and the Windle Trust and is coordinating wider fundraising efforts in the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê community. This has brought Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê activities closer in line with other universities, and with the Citizens UK call for each university to offer a minimum of 10 scholarships to those affected by conflict and violence.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday 29 February, and would be grateful if you could circulate this invitation widely across Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
