Watch: Lincoln - the man behind the film
21 January 2013
Dr Adam Smith (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê History), who has been writing about and studying Abraham Lincoln for more than a decade, reviews Stephen Spielberg's upcoming blockbuster Lincoln for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²ÊTV.
Dr Smith is full of praise for the film, and its star, Daniel Day-Lewis, however he argues that the real Lincoln was a far more complicated and enigmatic man than the film suggests. Particularly he argues that, in reality, the president's attitude towards the question of slavery was much more ambiguous.
Lincoln has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is scheduled for UK release on Friday 25 January.
