Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê student success at Undergraduate of the Year Awards

Shabbir Merali (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Economics) has won the Accountancy and Economics Undergraduate of the Year Award 2012, sponsored by Deloitte.

Shabbir has won a seven-week paid summer placement with Deloitte as well as two tickets for the upcoming 2012 Paralympic Games. He was chosen out of more than 900 entrants within his category.

The award was assessed by a series of online tests, application forms, interviews and assessment exercises. Including Shabbir, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê had 8 finalists in the 12 award categories - equal with Durham as the university with most students on the shortlists.

The TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year Awards are each sponsored by a top graduate recruiter: Deloitte, Barclays, Mars, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley, Laing O'Rourke, E.ON, EDF Energy, RBS, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, BT and Mayer Brown. The ceremony was held on 13 April in Canary Wharf.
