Four Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê scientists elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences

Four of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's leading medical researchers have been recognised for excellence in medical science with their election to the Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Sciences:
- Professor Phillip Beales (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê ICH Molecular Medicine)
- Professor David Hawkes (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Medical Physics and Bioengineering)
- Professor Eleanor Maguire (Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê)
- Professor Andrew Phillips (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Infection and Population Health)
Professor Sir John Tooke, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Vice-Provost (Health), paid tribute to the expertise of the new Fellows, noting: "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my colleagues who have been elected to the Fellowship of the Academy. It is a measure of their standing and contribution to medical science and is richly deserved. This recognition demonstrates once more the diversity of talent and the outstanding intellectual environment at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê."
Academy Fellows are elected for outstanding contributions to the advancement of medical science, for innovative application of scientific knowledge or for their conspicuous service to healthcare.
