Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Council has endorsed the recommendation of the university's Finance Committee to set the tuition fee payable (from earned income after graduation) by home and EU students for 2012 entry for all of its undergraduate programmes at £9,000.

From 2012, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê will receive no teaching funding from Government for any undergraduate programmes in Arts and Humanities, Social and Historical Studies (except Archaeology), Laws, The Bartlett, SSEES, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology and Computer Science, and only top-up funding in high cost clinical and laboratory-based science programmes and for some strategic and vulnerable subjects.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê will be submitting an ambitious and innovative Access AgreementÌýnext month to the Office For Fair Access (OFFA), to ensure Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's traditions of openness and equity are maintained.

Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê President and Provost, Professor Malcolm Grant, said: "We want to continue to attract to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê those students with the greatest ability to benefit from membership of an intellectually demanding institution. We want to provide them with an outstanding education, enriched by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's powerful research base. We need to maintain financial sustainability. The proposed fee level will help us recover from the loss of government grant and allow an appropriate level of investment to maintain and enhance our high standards, our libraries, teaching laboratories and other essential facilities."
