Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's sixth biennial Teaching & Learning Conference & Exhibition (TILT) will be held on 15 and 16 April 2008. Attendance is free and staff are invited to register for the event or individual sessions.
Highlighted themes will include
- virtual learning environments and the learning experience
- internationalising the curriculum
- learning through assessment
- global citizenship
- innovation.
TILT 2008 will be opened with a keynote speech, 'The inner game of higher education', by Professor Sir David Watson (Institute of Education) and will feature: presentations in plenary and parallel sessions; discussions and workshops; and demonstrations and posters at the associated exhibition.
Among this year's highlights will be presentations on:
- 'Global Citizenship - The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Experience', by Dr Andrea Townsend-Nicholson (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Biosciences)
- 'Ask the Audience - Improving Class Interaction using a Personal Response System', by Dr Dugan Witherick (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Physics & Astronomy)
- 'Moving Teaching Online: The Challenges, Pitfalls and Techniques', by Mr Anthony Peacock (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Population Health)
- 'Negotiating World Literature', by Professor Theo Hermans (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Dutch)
- 'Lock, Stock and Barrel: Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Laws' Move to Moodle', by Ms Lisa Penfold (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Laws)
There will also be a large number of stands and posters on teaching and learning at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê.
Held since 1998, TILT provides a forum for the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê community to share good practice, to hear about innovative approaches and to discuss topics of current significance in teaching, learning and assessment. Among its sponsors this year are Apple, Misco, Q Associates, Reflex, Unilink Systems and Viglen.
