On Tuesday 1 April 2008, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê hosted a 50-year reunion for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê graduates of 1957, 1958 and 1959. Participants travelled from New York, Australia, the Caymen Islands, Germany, Austria and France to attend.
The day began with a reception in the North Cloisters, where former students were able to acquaint themselves with Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê and their contemporaries, some for the first time in 50 years.
Alumni then had lunch in the Jeremy Bentham Room, with an introductory speech from Art Wasserman, Director of Development & Corporate Communications. Art then introduced Professor David Price, Vice Provost (Research) who spoke about Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, its research agenda and worldwide standing. Dr Jim Parkin (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemistry 1959) spoke briefly about the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Alumni London Group, encouraging participants to join.
Attendees then enjoyed guided tours of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's architecture and collections, with a number also visiting their former departments, including Chemistry and Geography. The day ended with tea, attended by Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê President and Provost Professor Malcolm Grant, who addressed and circulated among the guests.
