Press cutting: Korean firm backs UK stem cell labs

The business arm of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has teamed up with South Korean company Sewon Cellontech to establish new laboratories that will develop clinical cell therapeutic treatments for cartilage repair and bone fracture healing.

The Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Institute of Orthopaedics & Musculoskeletal Science (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê IOMS) at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) will be the location for the new stem cell regenerative medical laboratories.

The techniques deployed will use stem cells derived from the patient's bone marrow and cartilage tissue, potentially eliminating the need for radical surgery. …

It is envisaged that, with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê IOMS and its world-leading academics, other cell therapies will feed into the new facility for the benefit of future patients. All of these therapies will be clinically trialled at RNOH.
