After their strategic discussions, Professor Worton hosted an informal tea in Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's Garden Room to enable the ambassador to meet Kazakh students as well as academics engaged in Kazakh projects.

His Excellency made a brief speech in which he mentioned his delight at the number and quality of Kazakh students studying at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê, and his hopes for a deepening relationship with the university.

Several Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê academics, including Professor Stefaan Simons (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Chemical Engineering) who has worked on projects in Kazakhstan for over ten years, discussed their ideas for potential academic activities involving the central Asian country, which is home to every element in the periodic table.

A number of the 63 Kazakh undergraduates at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê took the opportunity to meet the ambassador, and shared their experiences of the university, academic life in the UK, and their career aspirations.
