Diary: 'Reviving the Invisible Hand'
22 June 2006
Oliver Letwin had no excuse not to read the new book from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê emeritus professor Deepak Lal [Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê Economics], 'Reviving the Invisible Hand: The Case for Classical Liberalism in the Twenty-First Century'.
"I received not one copy from Princeton University Press," Letwin told me at last night's launch, "but four. At one point, everywhere I turned in my office, there was a copy of the book. So I had to read it."
He might read it for another reason: the book is dedicated to, among others, his late mother, Dr Shirley Letwin, a Cambridge lecturer and an old friend of Lal's.
