Calling all medics, scientists, engineers and technologists
25 August 2006
The Athena Project, set up to advance women in science, engineering and technology (SET), will soon be running an online questionnaire to investigate women's career progression in scientific careers, including academic medicine.
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê took part in Athena's Survey of SET (ASSET) in 2004, and achieved the highest number of responses from any UK Higher Education Institution in the Survey.
The purpose of the survey is to understand and address the barriers to women's progression in science. The results will be used by policymakers to identify and disseminate good practice to employers, to contribute to the development of action agendas and to raise awareness of career progression issues.
In addition, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê will use the results to develop further initiatives in this area and to work towards a Silver SWAN Charter for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê. The SWAN Charter, of which Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê was a founder signatory, is a scheme that recognises excellence in science employment in higher education. Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê was awarded a Bronze award in 2006.
The questionnaire will be online from Tuesday 5 September until Friday 20 October. Your responses will make a difference.
