24 January 2005
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê has an ambitious agenda to ensure that its students are capable of helping those in need around the world, and to provide an education that ensures that its students become global citizens.
Speaking to the Independent, Professor Michael Worton, Vice-Provost
of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê (Academic & International), described the university's
intent to transform itself into a global university.
The article quotes from Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê's new International Strategy: "As a result of a combination of globalisation, the development of new technologies and, in the UK, the shift from an elite to a mass higher education system, higher education is undergoing what amounts to a revolution. It is important for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê to recognise the magnitude of what is happening and to embrace the opportunity to change itself radically."
