University College Opera presents its 54th season with the British premiere of Dvorak's rarely performed Vanda - the story of a Polish Queen who sacrifices her life to save her people from German domination.
The five-act tragic opera presents the clash between love and duty, the pagan and Christian cultures of pre-medieval Europe, greed and self-sacrifice.
The show has already received rave reviews. Mr Robert Thicknesse said in the Times: "For a place without a music department, Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê certainly produces the goods with its annual opera productions, adventurous, spirited and accomplished."
