Description

In this module we will explore the human senses in both health and disease. We will cover the anatomical and physiological functioning of the human senses as well as other abilities considered to be a ‘sense’ such as equilibrioception. We will also investigate the different pathologies related to the senses and discuss their treatments. Through a series of expert led workshops you will learn how the various senses are assessed, and see how this knowledge is applied in both clinical and research settings.

Overall, this module aims to provide you with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of the senses we all use to navigate the world around us and in doing so will enable you to achieve the following learning outcomes:

• Describe the anatomy and physiology underlying each human sense

• Identify pathology related to each human sense

• Outline how to examine each human sense in the clinical environment

• Effectively communicate research to a lay audience through a written piece of work
