Description
This module covers how to work in a range of educational settings including primary schools, secondary schools and colleges with respect to the mental health needs of pupils and their families. Training practitioners will be taught about the roles and responsibilities of different education staff, relevant legislation for pupils with additional needs, the functioning of pastoral care systems in education and the common challenges for support in such settings. Contents include: introduction to the education system; outcomes in education, learning, exams, achievements; the PHSE curriculum and school behaviour approaches; special educational needs: the SEND framework; common mental health problems in schools; safeguarding and information sharing in schools; working across agencies: referrals and CAMHS; working with diversity in schools; the impact of school exclusion on children, young people and families; how difficulties Ìý(behaviour, learning and wellbeing) are Ìýidentified in practice in educational settings.
