Description

This module covers the fundamentals of finance. We are going tocover topics such as:

Microeconomic foundations of Finance;

Objective function of corporation;

How to perform basic financial calculations;

How to evaluate whether an investment represents good value for money;

How to find the fair value of stocks and bonds;

How to measure the risk and return of assets;

What is the relationship between risk and return;

How to construct portfolios.

The module equips the student with sound theoretical knowledge and practical tools necessary to conduct accurate financial analysis. Basic mathematical skills and extensive use of computer-based tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel) are required. Prerequisite foundation courses are integrated throughout the module and students are assumed to have a working knowledge of microeconomics.
