Tectonic Geomorphology examines the teleconnections and feedbacks between tectonics, surficial processes and climate. This includes examination of Earth surface topography, mountain building, and causes and consequences of changes in surface elevation that combine isostasy, erosion, orography and climate change.
By the end of this module students will have a knowledge and understanding of:
- physical processes that influence the Earth’s geological, atmospheric and chemical evolution;
- qualitative and quantitative methods used to characterise landscapes, processes, and to detect change
- connections between tectonics and landscape development;
- processes and controls that govern landscape evolution over the short to long-term.
GEOL0004 Dynamic Earth is a prerequisite for Undergraduate students.
