The module will develop career-relevant skills in how to lead and manage bioscience innovation in a commercial setting. The ecosystem for bioscience innovation is increasingly challenging. Making effective use of emerging research discoveries has the potential to create social and economic impact.
This module will explore in an overarching sense the current state of innovation in the life sciences industry. It will explore how innovation ecosystems are evolving with advancing digital capabilities; how a complex globalised trade system affects adoption of change. Businesses that are fuelled by bioscience innovation include not only pharmaceuticals, but also wider healthcare, agriculture, food, environment and renewable energy sources. As such, these so-called ‘Life’ businesses create powerful markets and monopoly power.
It will teach students how the decision makers atÌýlarge industrial and early-stage firms can make best use ofÌýemergingÌýknowledge and technologiesÌýfor success. Such students will become literate in the strategy language used across the science and business priority areas that configures action.
