Content: This module will provide an overview of research methods approaches for the arts and sciences. Sessions will consist of interactive seminars combining research lectures, skills workshops, and group discussion. Topics will include an initial lecture on ‘Mixed methods approaches in arts and sciences’ and then specific lectures focusing on innovative methodologies from different disciplines, for example:
- Quantiative, qualitative and mixed methods research designÌý
- Skills development in all aspects of research design, data collection and analysisÌý
- ethnographic and sociological methodsÌý
- creative methodologiesÌý
- historical and archive-based methodsÌý
- systematic reviews and meta-analysisÌý
- health, cognitive and clinical psychology assessmentÌý
- neuroscientific approachesÌý
- biological techniquesÌý
- epidemiological and statistical approachesÌý
- ecological and systems-based approachesÌý
Teaching delivery: This module is taught weekly across Term 1 and Term 2, combining lectures and skills workshops to build on, and develop and consolidation key transferable research skills, and to prepare for the dissertation/ research project.Ìý
