Description

This module provides an introduction to research methods through lectures, tutorials and, class discussions. This module aims to equip students with the requisite skills and methods Ìýrequired to plan, design and implement, present and evaluate research relating to risk, disaster reduction.

As a student on this module, you will learn about the research project process including understanding the practice and philosophy of research, the generation of research ideas, developing a research aim, objectives and questions, reviewing the literature, and understanding the ethical considerations of research and the role of ethics approval. The module will also introduce and discuss different research designs, deciding on the most appropriate data collection methods and sampling strategy and ,presenting your own findings and placing them in context by being able to critique the work of other scholars.
