Description Digital technologies radically affect businesses and their organisation. In this module you will be introduced to theories of organisation science and how they are mobilised in the context of digital engineering in the built environment and other capital project industries. The module aims to provide you with a theoretically grounded understanding of how organisations are made up, e.g. human resources, strategy, competitive advantage, organisational culture, change management, and how these components are adjusted to respond to digitalisation. You will develop your organisational management abilities and learn how to research, justify, make and communicate informed decision-making on dealing with digital work in firms.
At the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Understand concepts, ideas, constructs of digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation
- Learn key theories and concepts in relation to organisation management
- Understand how digital technology is changing the business and, in specific, the built environment.
- Understand and evaluate digital transformation and disruption
- Understand how leadership play a key role in innovation, change and team building.
- Critically analyse management concepts, such as strategy, competitive advantage, organizational culture and value proposition in the context of digitisation and influence decision makers for technology investment.
- Critically analyse a company digitalization project and recommend best practice to improve this process.
