The contents of this module will include (but are not limited to):

Fundamental concepts of non-surgical periodontal therapy of periodontal diseases
Health behavioural change (methods and communication skills)
Practical skills associated with oral hygiene instruction
Practical skills associated with non-surgical debridement
Local and systemic antimicrobials and other adjunctive therapies
Expected outcomes following non-surgical periodontal therapy
Supportive periodontal therapy
Interdisciplinary aspects as part of non-surgical periodontal management

On successful completion of the module, graduates will have achieved a foundation in the understanding and basic clinical practice of:

Non-surgical management of periodontal diseases
Methods and communication skills for health behavioural change
Oral hygiene instruction
Non-surgical debridement and instrumentation
Use of local and systemic antimicrobials and other adjunctive therapies
Expected outcomes following non-surgical periodontal therapy
Implementation of supportive periodontal therapy
Relevant interdisciplinary aspects as part of non-surgical periodontal management
