Description

You will have an introduction to neurological and neurosurgical aspects of trauma and central nervous system tumours. The lectures will cover clinical aspects of cranial trauma, spinal trauma, tumours and cysts as well as give an overview of cerebrospinal fluid pathologies. The module also provides an introduction to neurosurgery and a brief overview of technical aspects of neurosurgery. Learning is through online interactive lectures and will be facilitated through tutor and student interactions through the online forums.

On completion of the module, you will have an understanding of the rationale for investigations and treatments used in neurological and neurosurgical disorders such as meningioma’s, hydrocephalus, pituitary adenoma, and spinal cord compression. This knowledge will be relevant and applicable to clinical practice.
