Description

This module introduces students to the theory and practice of moving image production and editing in educational settings. Run in partnership with tutors from the education department of the British Film Institute (BFI), it comprises seminars, practical workshops, online tasks and interactions, and readings and reflections on Moodle. A portfolio of digital media texts will be made culminating in a final 2-minute short film madeÌýin small groups. At the end of the module students will be assessed through a written commentary reflecting, in critical and reflexive ways, on multimodal production processes and practices. Students will engage with theories and debates on the skills and dispositions associated with media-making in educational environments. The module is designed for beginners, or those wishing to develop basic skills in the language of film and editing software - itÌýdoes notÌýprovide learners with a professional qualification. Moving Image Production encourages participants to experiment with the art and craft of filmmaking, the tools of production and the ways in which meanings and mood are constructed through film.Ìý
