Description
INTRODUCTION
The construction process is complex. It has traditional origins, combines labour and capital, takes place around a fixed final position (the site), yet has numerous actors, systems, and specialist processes. Exploring the construction process in detail is the subject of numerous books, technical, undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, and therefore can only be touched upon in the fifteen hours of contact time. The five events will comprise three on important individual construction issues, one on Artificial Intelligence and one from the viewpoint of construction professionals.
AIM
The aim of the module is to explore aspects of the management of construction projects in more detail than was possible in the core modules noting in particular the application of Artificial Intelligence to construction issues.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the module are to: Explain the critical problems and management of Construction Quality Health, Safety and Wellbeing in Construction Explore concepts of Productivity and how this might be improved Show examples of the application of Artificial Intelligence to the solution of Construction Problems through Machine Learning Discuss problems of real construction management with invited speakers from industry

Basic approaches to managing these problems
How technology is changing approaches to management
Be aware of:
The significance of these problems in the whole Construction sector
The dynamics of change or lack thereof
The importance of project, corporate and industry leadership in tackling such issues
Critically evaluate Current practices in the Construction sector
The application of new techniques to Construction problems
