Description
This module is one of three rotating Life Cycle modules taken in year 5 and comprises core teaching and clinical placements. ÌýThis particular module incorporates Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), Sexual Health and HIV Medicine, Dermatology, Urology and Breast disease. ÌýThis module builds upon your learning from year 4, particularly by broadening your experience of surgical specialties and infectious diseases. Many of the areas you will learn about can be sensitive subjects to address, both in terms of verbal discussion and clinical examination of patients and you will be taught skills to help you navigate these areas during the module.Ìý
The overall aims of the module are:Ìý
- to develop your clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills in relation to the core presentations linked to this module;
- to understand how the core conditions covered by this module present; to be able to take a full history, including collateral and social history;
- to conduct a clinical examination from a patient with any of these core conditions and presentations;
- to develop an understanding of the principles of assessment and management of common and important disorders within these specialties;Ìý
- to competently examine the female and male pelvis and reproductive tract organs;Ìý
- to develop knowledge of common and important skin disorders with emphasis on diagnosis and management.
