Description
This module presents key topics reflecting the current state of knowledge of the whole life management of infrastructure projects relevant to those involved in infrastructure sponsorship, finance, delivery and/or management.
Aim:
The module aims to present the management of complex infrastructure projects within a ‘whole life’ framework while recognising the heterogeneity of potential delivery paths. Bodies of knowledge and contemporary research will be explored so as to convey analytical concepts and decision support systems needed to assist the management of change, risk and uncertainty in the design, procurement and delivery of infrastructure which meets stakeholder requirements over the whole life cycle of project assets and systems including end of life disposal and data inputs for replacement or upgrade.

- Understand the principles of ‘whole-life’ megaproject management and the challenges of project size and complexity noting in particular:Ìý
- The incorporation of sustainability, resilience and operations management requirements into infrastructure design
- The design, assembly and delivery of project governance, organisational networks and project controls including change/configuration management and systems integrationÌý
- The interfaces between business case, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations and termination phases
- Project information management, capture, storage and retrieval systems
- Mid- and post-project evaluations, lessons learned and benefits management
