Description

Health improvement aims to improve health and wellbeing, prevent the causes of preventable disease, disability and mortality, and reduce inequalities. In this module you will examine the theory and practice of health improvement for the wider socio-ecological environment, as well as specific conditions and health behaviours, from a contextualised, interdisciplinary perspective. You will learn about interventions, services, and policies using real-world examples from high-, middle-, and low-income countries, including action on the wider determinants of health, public health media campaigns, legislative approaches, screening and early identification of disease, and individual behaviour change. Finally, you will develop skills in communicating with the public and the media about health improvement. This module will include guest lectures from academics with different disciplinary backgrounds, practicing public health professionals, and expert citizens.Ìý
