Description
The module is the follow up to French for Beginners 1 (FREN0079) and aims to take students to level B1/B2 in French language.
The module will be taught over terms 1 & 2 and will combine classroom teaching with online activities and guided learning exercises. You will acquire intermediate vocabulary and grammatical structures that will enable you to communicate within the context of social, cultural and historical topics and themes relevant to your undergraduate studies.
Teaching will be conducted through seminars (5 hours per week in terms 1 and 2), and through online activities via the Moodle page, in terms 1-3. Students will be required to complete formative and summative exercises, and the course tutors will provide feedback on progress at all stages of the module.
The module aims to take participants from A1/2 French to B1/B2 French. They will acquire the corresponding competence in all four skills. This will enable students to study French at university level and to be integrated with their post-A Level and post-IB peers at the beginning of the fourth year.
By the end of the module, students will have a good knowledge of the French language and will be able to express themselves competently in spoken and written form on a range of social, cultural and historical topics.
