Description

This module is an intensive and practical study of the technical, analytical, and professional aspects of modern surveying.

This first-term module provides students with a solid foundation in the understanding and use of modern positioning equipment such as Total Station, Automatic Level, Laser Scanner and Satellite Receivers. Students will learn how to design and simulate robust control networks using least squares adjustment.

The course covers data management and error analysis, and aids as a practical complement to the mathematics covered in CEGE0044 Data Analysis.

Learning Outcomes

  • Fluency in the understanding and practical use of survey equipment
  • Ability to accurately determine the location of points with respect to local or global coordinate systems
  • Ability to understand and process spatial measurements, including an understanding of error management and data presentation
  • Ability to design and execute a measurement project.
