Description

This module focuses on the development of energy and environment scenarios, covering aspects from policy objectives and building regulations, and the use of data and models to build scenarios and use them to inform policy. The series of lectures are arranged to provide core skills to students covering the key issues in this field, the staff involved are international experts and will be selected so as to knowledgeably deliver materials that include the key areas of diversity in ethnicity, culture, and nationality in the development of energy and environment scenarios.

The aims of the module are to:

  • Develop an urban, multi-vector, multi-sector understanding of energy systems.
  • Characterise similarities and differences between urban energy system modelling methods, including their applicability and limits.

By the end of the module students should be able to:

  • Critically evaluate the role of data in addressing problems of urban sustainability.
  • Apply urban energy system and econometric modelling in the transport and energy sectors.
  • Analyse the outputs of urban energy system and econometric modelling.
  • Use data and models, and build scenarios to inform policy and decision-makers.
