Description
Organizations thrive and succeed (or deteriorate and fail) depending on how effectively individuals can coordinate their behaviour to achieve organizational goals. Therefore, to be effective in their jobs, individuals must learn how to work with others to deliver results. The purpose of this module is to provide students with the scientific understanding of the individual, group, structural and organizational drivers of behaviour and how they can use this understanding to effectively work with and lead others, and ultimately perform more highly in their careers.
The module explores topics related to individual behaviour, motivation, working effectively in teams, performance management, influence and persuasion, culture, managing up, social networks, and change management. The module explores these topics through data (what works), theories (why it works), and cases (examples of when it has worked). Students will also learn and practice new people management skills, such as coaching, feedback, and effective communication, in a safe environment.
