Description
TheÌýResearch DissertationÌýModule seeks to encourage interdisciplinarity and experiment byÌýinviting students to think about how more traditional forms of academic writing can be woven into the practitioner mode of the digital image.ÌýThe Module thus takes a hybrid form, combining an extended piece of original critical writing of between 6,000 and 7,500 words and a creative media artefact, such as a moving image work, game or immersive visualisation. These will compriseÌýtwo integrated components of a single subject or theme to be agreed in advance with the module leader.ÌýStudents work individually and willÌýbe equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for learning how to define and respond to a research enquiry.ÌýA combination of small-group teaching and individual supervisions will broachÌýliterature reviews, methodological issues and ethical questions.ÌýStudents will submit their final dissertation in a published format on both website and podcast platforms, to be exhibited alongside their creative media artefact at the Degree Show.
