Description
In this module, project groups will form to identify and develop a ‘Connected Places’ product or service. Through a series of lectures and design reviews, these mini-projects will be developed from idea to prototype culminating in a pitching session at the end of the module.Ìý
Students create, as part of a group, and develop a product and/or service based on the skills learnt on the other modules in the programme to date. Assessment is based on how well you work as a group to develop and iterate prototypes that incorporate a mixed-use of physical and digital tools. Ideas might focus on one particular area (e.g. could be AR only), utilise a mix of techniques (e.g. a sensing system that is interactive via an App) or make a single physical device that pulls in and displays data.Ìý
Aim: To expose students to the experience of creating a minimal viable prototype for a ‘Connected Places’ product or service in a short space of time.Ìý
After having taking this module, you should be able to:Ìý
- Develop concept ideas using techniques for idea generation, service design, user research and idea analysis and synthesisÌý
- Work collaboratively as a groupÌý
- Construct viable business models for product / service conceptsÌý
- Present / pitch ideas to potential investorsÌý
- Understand the process of developing a minimal viable prototypeÌý
- Identify the varied skillsets required for a team to deliverÌý
