Description

This course is designed to help students to develop knowledge of how to use IT software, acquire elementary programming skills and numerical methods to solve bioprocess problems; to be aware of the concepts of bioprocess dynamics and control for product quality and plant safety.

Upon completion of the course, a student should be able to:

  • to be aware of a range of computational methods for bioprocess design, operation and management;
  • to have developed competence in mathematical formulations of simple process design problems;
  • to be familiar with advanced software for biochemical process simulation and optimisation;
  • to have developed strategies for working as a team using one of these computational tools;
  • to be aware, and have an appreciation of the importance of bioprocess control in the safe, efficient, and economic operation of bioprocess plants.
