Description
The module covers core concepts and research in biological psychology. It explores the history of the field, neuroanatomy, methods used in the study of biological psychology and core topics which form the majority of this research area. These include sensory / motor systems, decision making, memory, planning, emotion, stress, reinforcement, and social information processing.
Students will be expected to develop knowledge and understanding of:
- Historical and current models of biological psychology
- Research methods in neuroscience
- Basic neuroanatomy
- How the brain senses and acts on the world
- How the brain adapts to stress and helps form social and parental bonds
- How many systems operate
- How we make decisions and plan for the future
