This module will teach you the basic principles of Bioinformatics; the biochemistry and structural biology of proteins, and modern protein structural determination techniques.
The unique tutorial and practical sections will equip you with good skills in using online bioinformatics and genomics databases, gene editing methods, and most commonly used bioinformatics methods, such as BLAST, and important visualisation software, such as RasMol and PyMOL.
The important questions are:
- How can we apply bioinformatics to drug targets?
- What are the tools?
- What are drug targets?
- How do you clone and express these protein drug targets?
- How to visualise their structures?
- Why is it important to study a family of proteins?
