Postgraduate study within the Department of Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering offers the chance to develop important skills and acquire new knowledge through involvement with a team of scientists or engineers working in a world-leading research group. Following a Postgraduate Research degree, our students have entered a number of varied careers. Many choose to continueÌýin academic research with a postdoctoral post, enter the NHS or private healthcare sector, or apply their skills in industry.Ìý
Postgraduate Research Degrees
From radiation physics and neurophysiology to wearable electronics and medical devices, the Department offers a varied range of research themes for students to pursue with an MPhil or PhD, with funded studentships available regularly.
The i4health Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) offers this programme consisting of a taught 1-year MRes followed by a 3-year PhD related to AI-powered medical imaging. The CDT also offers funded studentships in interdisciplinary research with direct clinical applications.
This PhD programme is aimed at qualified radiographers with a desire for knowledge and the motivation to push beyond what is currently achievable in the clinic.
